Precious hand spun and hand woven textiles made responsibly using only natural raw materials robust enough to impact lives.

Our most personal form of self-expression are the clothes and textiles we wear. We tell the world where we come from, who we are, what we love and what we believe in through the choices our clothes reveal. They are an integral part of our story as individuals.

So rarely, however, do our choices reflect our values – the impact on communities who make our textiles as well as the impact on the environment are often compromised for pre-conditioned market standards. In India, cultural identities play a strong role from weaver to wearer and the economic and social impact on local societies has a tangible and measurable pulse. Most frequently, the benefits are biased towards urban communities economically.

YALI, seeks to re-align the relationship between handloom weaver and wearer. We exist to honour cultural identities through the celebration of design and mastery of craftsmanship in creating  handspun and handwoven textiles and clothes. Unique, sensual and made to flatter many forms they are meant to be relevant for the modern and contemporary textile connoisseur who understands the impact our clothing choices have on the maker and the  environment. They are lasting heirloom pieces that tell your story in today’s world. Every collection hosts limited, numbered and certified pieces.

Based on the curatorial and research and documentation body of work at our parent entity The Registry of Sarees, our collection of sarees, clothes and home textiles pushes the boundaries of what responsibly grown and ethically hand made materials can achieve. 

Here the curious and compassionate global citizen seeking thoughtful design will be assured that innovation raises dignity of labour and the pride of rural entrepreneurship. Community, transparency and human skill are the foundation of our textiles. All our decisions are guided by our values that make us believe that hand skill, and design innovation are crucial for our environment and for us.

Using textiles as a pathway to change , we seek to model what is possible at this critical juncture in our humanity - amplifying voices for environmental and economic  impact, educating and engaging our community with the stories behind our clothes, and providing more information about supply chains at large.
